Health & Safety Education
Phi Gamma Delta stands firm in its strong commitment to member safety and wellness. This makes Phi Gamma Delta a leader in promoting healthy decisions. Health & Safety Education questions should be directed to the Associate Director of Education.
There are three programs provided to chapters, which are delivered by volunteer facilitators assigned at the beginning of the year:
Alcohol Skills Training Program (ASTP)
ASTP is a discussion-based program that uses an approach to alcohol education that is non-judgmental, non-confrontational and meets members where they are in terms of readiness to change their behaviors. It acknowledges that college students drink and any steps toward reducing risk are steps in the right direction. ASTP was designed to provide drinkers and nondrinkers with information regarding alcohol use and associated negative consequences. The program also teaches skills to reduce risky use and/or abstain from use altogether.
Courageous Mentality & Sexual Violence Prevention
Courageous Mentality educates students about sexual violence, healthy relationships and victim/survivor support. It also increases members’ interest in thinking critically about the topic, examining what is occurring in their own chapter, and challenging their patterns of behavior to implement key takeaways they learn. Through this, members will examine multiple levels of sexual violence prevention and data while developing best practices to prevent and respond to sexual violence in their chapter.
Additional Resources:
Testing Points Workshop – Bystander Intervention
Testing Points is a discussions-based workshop putting an emphasis on what is most relevant and realistic in both bystander intervention and pro-active personal development for today’s collegiate men. It takes an innovative, positively framed approach to address critical issues. Collegiate men will be provided with key insights and led through strategic discussions on sexual misconduct, personal relationships, how older members treat new/younger members, and other key issues.
