Courageous Leadership is experienced during every part of Phi Gamma Delta membership. These programs are for all members to participate in. Programs are designed to help Courageous Leadership be a continual conversation in the chapter.

Ritual Retreat
Description
- Approximate Run-Time: 60 minutes
- Reporting Responsibility Role: Chapter Historian
Facilitator Preparation
- One Month in Advance:
- Book a suitable space – we suggest a classroom as it sets the tone that the program is important. (Note: This may need to be done sooner depending on your campus requirements.)
- Review the program guide and make notes for yourself.
- One Week in Advance: Remind participants of the upcoming program date/time.
- Five Days in Advance: Ensure you have all items needed for the program – Ritual books for each group and/or numbered copies of the Creed.

- First 2-3 Weeks of the Academic Year: Schedule a call with your assigned Health & Safety facilitator and build a plan for communication and selecting a date.
- One Month Before Program:
- Confirm date, time and location with the facilitator.
- Confirm an appropriate space is booked to host the program.
Courageous Leadership Welcome
Excellent on Purpose Transition
Description
- Approximate Run-Time: 90 minutes
- Audience: All chapter members who are not graduating this academic year or the following academic year
- Reporting Responsibility Role: Built to Lead Chairman

Facilitator Preparation
- One Month in Advance:
- Book a suitable space – we suggest a classroom as it sets the tone that the program is important. (Note: This may need to be done sooner depending on your campus requirements.)
- Review the program guide and make notes for yourself.
- Watch the two minute video, “The Jar of Life.” Then choose a facilitation option: Active Participation (each person recreates the video); Demonstration (the facilitator recreates video); or Video (the facilitator plays the video for the group).
- Two Weeks in Advance: Check in with the participants to ensure they have scheduled/met with their mentor.
- One Week in Advance: Remind participants of the upcoming program date/time and to bring their handout.
- Five Days in Advance: Ensure you have all items needed for the program. Materials needed include:
- One large Post-It sheet (25 x 30″) per person
- Six large Post-It sheets (one for each Menu Experience category: Graduate Engagement; Leadership; Life Skills; Philanthropy & Service; Success in College; and Work & Play)
- 18-20 regular Post-It notes (3 x 3″) per participant
- One printed list of Menu Experiences per person
- One printed list of the Foundation of Courage programs per person
- Markers/Sharpies
- “Jar of Life” supplies (supplies will differ depending which facilitation option is chosen):
- Active Participation: (Ingredients listed are per person) 1 pint-sized mason jar/person, 1 cup of a small ingredient (such as rice or sand),½ cup of a medium ingredient (such as jelly beans or Skittles), and 3 golf balls or 4 ping pong balls as the large ingredient
- Demonstration: 1 pint-sized mason jar/person, 1 cup of a small ingredient (such as rice or sand),½ cup of a medium ingredient (such as jelly beans or Skittles), and 3 golf balls or 4 ping pong balls as the large ingredient
- Video: Laptop, external speakers, projector and screen
- Day of Preparation:
- Write each Menu Experience category (Graduate Engagement; Leadership; Life Skills; Philanthropy & Service; Success in College; and Work & Play) across the top of each of the six large Post-It sheets
- Beneath the category heading, write “Choose Two”
Not for College Days Alone Welcome

Description

- Audience: All chapter members who are graduating the following academic year
- Reporting Responsibility Role: Built to Lead Chairman
Participant Preparation
- Participants should be provided with and complete the Consultation and Contemplation sections of the handout at the end of the facilitation guide document.
- Participants then need to schedule time before this program to review their answers with their Brother Mentor/graduate mentor/other mentor.
- Participants will bring a draft copy of their resume to the above meeting. If they do not have a resume, they can use the PGD Resume Template to get started.

- Review the program guide and make notes for yourself.
- Print and distribute handouts (or share virtually): Customize the handout to include the Menu Experiences hosted by the chapter in the past year. List should be available from the Built to Lead Chairman.
- Inform participants for the resume review activity that they will all need a draft of their resume. (Note: Brothers may use the PGD Resume Template if they do not have a resume.)
- Two Weeks in Advance: Ask participants if they have scheduled/met with their mentor.
- One Week in Advance: Remind participants of the upcoming program date/time and to bring their handout.
- Five Days in Advance: Ensure you have all items needed for the program. Materials needed include:
- One copy of the PGD Action Verbs/Resume Review per person
- One blank paper per person
- Six large Post-It sheets (one for each Menu Experience category: Graduate Engagement; Leadership; Life Skills; Philanthropy & Service; Success in College; and Work & Play)
- 18-20 regular Post-It notes (3 x 3″) per participant
- One printed list of Menu Experiences per person
- One printed list of the Courageous Leadership programs per person
- Pens/pencils
- Day of Preparation:

- Inform participants for the resume review activity that they will all need a draft of their resume. (Note: Brothers may use the PGD Resume Template if they do not have a resume.)

- One Week in Advance: Remind participants of the upcoming program date/time and to bring their handout and resume.
