GreekLifeEduGreekLifeEdu

All Phi Gamma Delta members are expected to complete GreeklifeEdu when they join.

GreekLifeEdu is an online program that addresses the critical issues of alcohol awareness, sexual assault and hazing for incoming fraternity and sorority members. By leveraging trends and incorporating multiple evidence-based learning theories, GreekLifeEdu achieves behavior change objectives and helps members practice safer decision-making. Throughout this two-part program, students are reminded of their values and strengths, and they are challenged to consider ways to leverage them throughout different interactive scenarios.

Expectations, Incentives & Penalties

The targeted learners for this training are Phi Gamma Delta members at the beginning of their joining semester. It is important the learners take the course as early in their experience as possible. Part 1 is due seven days after the learner is enrolled in GreekLifeEdu. This rolls throughout the semester to accommodate all recruitment schedules. Part 2 becomes available 30 days after finishing Part 1.

When all learners from a chapter successfully complete GreekLifeEdu, the chapter receives an incentive on their annual insurance of $10/new member (a class of 10 would create a $100 discount on the January insurance bill).

Alternatively, there is a $25 penalty/new member who does not complete GreekLifeEdu.

Timelines

Learners have to register and be processed on our member site before they are enrolled into GreeklifeEdu which creates a delay.

Learners will be enrolled in every Wednesday of the learning period, detailed on the Officers Calendar. A chapter’s learners will receive their welcome email the day after, which is when the seven-day due date begins.

Example Timeline:
  • Sunday, 9/3: Learners register on the member site.
  • Wednesday, 9/6: Learners are added to GreekLifeEdu.
  • Thursday, 9/7: Learners receive their welcome email.
  • Thursday, 9/14: Part 1 is due.
  • Saturday, 10/14: Part 2 opens.
  • Saturday, 10/21: Part 2 is due.

Managers

By default, certain officers typically related to the process are given manager rights, including: Chapter President, Treasurer, Foundation of Courage Chair Chairman (New Member Educator) and Purple Legionnaire.

FAQs

Why are learners from last semester appearing on the report?

In previous years, we’ve cleared this data so it is easier on a semester level to see all the learners. However, the insurance billing is based on the completion for the calendar year. We want the chapter to know up front who still hasn’t finished from the spring.

Can learners complete Part 1 after the seven-day due date?

Yes, but the training is most effective early in the membership experience.

Why are upper classmen enrolled and do they have to do it?

Most likely they are enrolled because they registered late on the member site, so they never had been enrolled in the program before. Because we expect all members of Phi Gamma Delta to go through this training they are expected to complete it.

What is Part 2 and can it be available before thirty days?

Part 2 of GreekLifeEdu is an impact survey that is meant to gauge a learner’s takeaways. It cannot be made available earlier than 30 days. It also has a seven day due date.
