The Indiana University and Purdue University chapters of the Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) fraternity are proud to announce the “Run the Ball” fundraiser, 100% student ran initiative designed to raise $50,000 for Wheeler Mission and $50,000 for Urban Ministries while increasing awareness of homelessness and poverty in our local communities. On November 29, 2024, fraternity members will run the game football from Lafayette to Bloomington in conjunction with the highly anticipated IU vs. Purdue Old Oaken Bucket Game.

Every dollar raised by IU FIJIs through this event will go directly to Wheeler Mission and for the Purdue FIJIs will go to Urban Ministries, helping those in need. “Run The Ball” is a call to action, bringing together students, alumni, and community members to tackle homelessness and uplift our neighbors said Nick Frische, an IU FIJI fraternity cabinet member and president of the event. “Every day in Bloomington, I see the individual’s experiencing homelessness, and I felt called to organize this event to show that fraternities can make a positive difference in our communities.”

The event will feature a charity run and culminate in a special presentation during the Old Oaken Bucket game, where FIJI fraternity members from both universities will present a check to their beneficiaries.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of the FIJI fraternity and all those involved in ‘Run The Ball,'” said Dana Jones, Director of Wheeler Mission Bloomington. “Our mission is to provide shelter, food, and resources to those in need, and we are excited to see the ball being run from Purdue to the IU game. This fundraiser will directly impact the lives of many in our community.”
