Ed Robinson (Bucknell 1986) Earns the NIC’s Advisor Award of Distinction

July 8, 2025

Ed Robinson (Bucknell 1986) received the North American Interfraternity Conference’s (NIC) 2025 Advisor Award of Distinction, recognizing over 10 years of exemplary volunteer service as the Purple Legionnaire – or principal graduate advisor – of the Delta Chapter at Bucknell.

As Purple Legionnaire, Ed was known for getting to know and encouraging each brother personally beginning soon after they joined. He continued to provide countless hours of mentorship and assistance to the Delta Chapter’s officers and brothers well into their years as Bucknell graduates too. In addition to providing them with introductions to Bucknell alumni, he wrote letters of recommendation for graduate school and/or gave multiple references for job interviews. Ed modeled a special, unique kind of wisdom, empathy and compassion to the Chapter.

Every year, the Advisor Award of Distinction is bestowed upon a very small, select group of volunteer and full-time professional advisors at campuses across the United States and Canada, highlighting their exceptional commitment to advising either a single chapter, an Interfraternity Council or entire Greek life community. Each recipient demonstrates dedication to guiding the fraternity members with whom they work, and exemplifies the highest standards of character, leadership and interfraternalism both personally and professionally.

While this honor coincides with Ed’s retirement as the Purple Legionnaire, it also casts light on his 15+ years of prior service on the Board of Chapter Advisors, the House Corporation and as a Graduate Trustee. It also acknowledges his recognition as the recipient of the 2022 Durrance Award, given to the most effective Purple Legionnaire in Phi Gamma Delta. Additionally, last year, Bucknell University presented Ed with its inaugural Fraternity/Sorority Chapter Advisor of Excellence Award and named it in his honor moving forward.
