Volunteer Spotlight: Seaton Brown (Charleston 2009)

June 10, 2025

Seaton Brown (Charleston 2009) has served as Purple Legionnaire (PL) of the Lambda Chi Chapter at the College of Charleston since October 2023, when the Chapter was reestablished on campus. One of his proudest moments as Purple Legionnaire was when the Chapter rechartered and initiated 35 brothers in March. This was especially meaningful to Seaton, because he was one of the Founding Fathers who helped establish the Lambda Chi Chapter in 2010. Seaton’s primary goals as PL are to support the Chapter by strengthening their recruitment and brotherhood development, serve as a resource and mentor, and inspire brothers to fully engage with the Fraternity’s Ritual. Seaton also serves the Fraternity as a member of the Ritual Review Committee, which presented its work at the 2024 Ekklesia in Chicago.

Professionally, Seaton serves as the Director of Graduate Admissions for the School of Business at the College of Charleston (CoC), where he has worked for 16 years. Shortly after graduating in 2009, Seaton began his career as an admissions officer in CoC’s undergraduate admissions office. Then he worked in development and fundraising from 2015-17, before transitioning to his current role. Seaton also serves as the Acting Director of Graduate Admissions for the Graduate School.

Additionally, Seaton has held several volunteer positions outside of his volunteer work for the Fraternity. He currently serves on the City of Charleston’s Board of Architectural Review, a five-member board appointed by the Mayor and City Council, which reviews new construction and proposed alterations to historic properties within the city. Previously, Seaton served on the Board of Trustees for Mason Preparatory School from 2016-22, as the head coach for CoC’s rowing team from 2013-19 and as a Board Member of the Harleston Village Association from 2012-22.
